Sense there ain't shite going on tonight
I thought I would start a thread about our favorite lines in songs...
I'm sure this has been done a hundred times here before, but with new songs and new members...
I'll start with a couple of classics--
I love this song.
Elton John...Saturday night's alright for fighting.
Every word in it is great.
My old man's drunker than a barrel full of monkeys, and my old lady she don't care. My sister looks cute in her britches and boots, a handful of grease in her hair.
Great lyrics!!!!
Another classic--
Soundgarden, FELL ON BLACK DAYS
So what you wanted to see good has made you blind And what you wanted to be yours has made it mine So don't you lock up something that you wanted to see fly Hands are for shaking Not tying, no not tying
Man, that's good stuff!!!
Right now, I'm totally into ALL THINGS AUDIOSLAVE...
Something harder--
Lamb of God (Burn the preist) - Lies of Autumn.
As the leaves fall yellowing like aged paper Thoughts turn acrid and curl like cigarette smoke Rising from a butt ground out on my arm
Step into this decay and experience dissolution Crucified upon a plank of cruelty and apathy
Oh man!!!
Doesn't that just pound you?
Seriously, that pulls you down...way down to the dirty side.
Lamb of God is what I like to fry my ears to when I'm writing murder, rape or torture. They are just PERFECT for it.
Btw...I'm listening to A LOT of the Lamb these days. I wrote a rape scene to it the other day, that curled my hair.
Fresh new stuff--
Muse.. Some kind of madness
I hate techno but Fukk, I like this song
Not cause of the words, but the rhythm...
Too soft to write to, but still a cute 'flavor of the day" song.
Another of John's solo songs 'Gimme Some Truth' - also from the Imagine album - has this line:
'No short haired yellow bellied son of Tricky Dickys gonna Mother Hubbard soft soap me for just a pocketful of hope...money for dope...money for rope'.
