AND HERE WE GO...

Theme: Fever Dream

FYI: A fever dream is a particularly distressing, scary, or bizarre dream that a person may have when experiencing a fever. (Source: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/fever-dream)

Challenge: Write a coherent story where your main character has a fever dream.

There's more --> The dream becomes the driving force to take revenge on someone who betrayed the protagonist, but this plan backfires terribly.

Genre: Horror/suspense/thriller

Script length: Upto 10 pages.

Locations: As many as you need. (Although, budget-wise you should aim for a singular location)

Time: 168 hours (7 days).

THE USUAL:

This isn't a contest - it's a challenge. There are no official prizes.

You can revise your script as many times as you wish up until the deadline.

Do not put your real name(s) on your script; this is an anonymous challenge. However, please use your real name(s) when submitting your script.

After the challenge closes you can either have your script removed or resubmit your script with your name on it.

(Don's rule)
Participants must read and comment/review in the discussion board at least 10 other scripts submitted or your work will be removed (no harm, no foul. I understand that life gets in the way.

Please put ©2023 on your title page.

Any questions about the challenge, post them here.

There will be a review page emailed to you for you to score the scripts you read. Please only give scores to scripts that you have read.

Please do not rate scripts in your review.

I love this bit:

Write a coherent story where your main character has a fever dream.

That said, a nice challenge, Yuvraj.
Horror fans should be over the moon.

Wow!  I take a one week vacation and look what happens!  Another challenge appears!  I still have beach brain so don’t know if “coherent” is in my wheelhouse right now, but according to the clock, I have 6 days, 2 hours and 9 minutes to pull a rabbit out of the hat.  Not sure I’ll have anything, but there’s always hope. Maybe it will come to me in a dream.

Scripts Available:
Christmas Joe (Holiday Drama)
Every Time It Snows (Holiday Drama)
Happy Holi-DNA (Holiday Romance)
Let That Pony Run (Family Drama)
With Love, From Romance (Holiday Romance)
Essex (Historical Drama)

Shorts:
Santuario (OWC Writers' Choice)
Death  (OWC)
Savior  (OWC)

Dang it.

And, it was relatively coherent, too.

Haha - not sure my idea was either coherent or in anyway good, so the genre might be doing me a favour. Gotta try and get one in this time!

Sh1t there's a genre requirement!?!

We seem to have moved away from the genre requirements of late, save the October OWC, which is always horror. Some of the best OWCs, personally, were the genre requirement ones. I always felt they added a spark of creativity, having to write inside of a specific box and all.

I fully intended to take part in this one, but the director making Ai Illusion asked me this morning if I could write her one more. Twenty pages this time. And, if I could have a draft ready by Sunday that would be super... Since I'm old, stupid, and a slow learner, I said yes, of course.

Really? What's with the deadline. And a new script entirely? I hope it pays off, Pia.

Would have loved to see what you came up with in this OWC.

They're starting to shoot Ai Illusion next month and then they had plans to shoot Tangled Web. They did not know that that one had been sold. I'm supposed to get the money on the 15th. When that happens I will ask Don to remove it. I guess that was the reason for the hurry. Regardless, I will try to read as many as I can.

For the first time in a while...it looks like I'll have an entry. Just remember, the parameters are "coherent" not "quality."

Yuvraj, just wanted to pop in and say that this is a great challenge  .

So gutted I can't make it in (just returned from holiday, got home to a hemorrhaging fish tank I need to sort AND prepping for my youngest birthday party tomorrow  )

Should be able to read some next week though.

1) Write a bad one
2) Fix it

At the risk of seeming incompetent, I missed the link to submit my entry.

How do I send in my work?

Thank you! You're a light saber! I mean, life saver.  Stupid autocorrect.

Stoping by to say that it sounds like a very fun challenge. I can't participate, not even sure if I'll be able to read any. I wish everyone who enters has a good time!

Theme of the OWC is coherence vs incoherence, not competence vs incompetence... so, you're good.

I tried to get something together, but I failed. Too much on my plate currently. Going to make a real effort to read these. Looking forward to seeing what everyone's got up their sleeves!

Well, I submitted...as always, I wasted most of the week and spend this morning doing the bulk of the work. Worried about the "coherent story" rule, haha.

If any of the scripts read like insane scribblings done in a few hours at most, well...you've figured out who wrote it!

Didn't write one this time.  I only had one idea, which I tried a few variations in my mind...and they all sucked.  Oh well, it happens.  Anyway, I read all the scripts and there were some really cool ideas.  All better than mine.
