Alright, horror nuts! Time to show us what you've got! Keeping this one short and sweet.

You are challenged to write a 2 to 6-page horror script set during Halloween. The story must end with a shock, whether that be a twist, a cliffhanger, or something else entirely.

The screenplay must be properly formatted and in PDF format. The scripts are due on Friday, October 20th at 11:59 PM EST.

One script per writer, and the writers must remain anonymous until the challenge is over. Remember not to put your name on the title page. Submit your screenplay to https://www.simplyscripts.com/owc

Your script does not have to be strictly horror. Horror-Comedy, Horror-Comedy, Horror-Action, etc... Just as long as the horror is at the forefront.

Participants are strongly encouraged to read and comment/review the other scripts submitted.

Good luck and, most importantly, have fun!

ONLY SIX PAGES!!! That is quite a challenge. I actually HAVE a script set during Halloween time, and no its not the Halloween Michael Myers fan script I recently had submitted here but an original work. But you want six pages, so I can't really use that one unless I trim off the rest of the story since the prologue can work as a short story. But that still leaves twenty pages, not gonna be easy to condense that into six. I don't have any good ideas to conjure in such a short Halloween story that could win a contest here, so I might have to sit this one out.

Welcome, Devonte!

You have seven days to come up with something.
...

Nice one, Zack, a good short page count and an open themed challenge devoid of a lot of pesky parameters.

If I'm even able to. The week time is not the issue since I've written whole standard-length scripts in that time and even a bit less, but for now no good Halloween story is sitting with me to create that could adjust to such a short length. Kudos to those that are able to do this though.

The strike is over, and I'm writing again, so I finally feel comfortable participating. It's all a matter of juggling everything. I was just informed yesterday (Thursday) that I needed to start putting together a Christmas list. I'll see what I can come up with (on both counts).

I think you have some leeway here, Kathy.
Your script does not have to be strictly horror. Horror-Comedy, Horror-Comedy, Horror-Action, etc... Just as long as the horror is at the forefront.
Your Horror Musical with a shock/twist ending sounds just the ticket.

Hmmm...what if the shock/twist was that the horror was...a MUSICAL the whole time? Or maybe...the musical is coming from INSIDE the house!!

just wrote one in a spurt -- I'm not even sure it's coherent and I don't think there's any horror in it.  Except for the writing.  THe real horror is the writing itself.  It scared the hell out of me.

Some of my scripts:

Bounty (TV Pilot) -- Top 1% of discoverable screenplays on Coverfly
I'll Be Seeing You (short) - OWC winner
The Gambler (short) - OWC winner

The Family Man (short) - filmed
The Journeyers (feature) - optioned

I think I've come to realise that me and Horror don't exactly mix.

Was hoping for one from you guys cause I think it is your bag.

Looking forward to reading. I hope there's a good turnout.

Don't sit this one out! Write something!

I have HAD something I could have made an original short story with that could have been about six pages in length. It was cut material from a fan fic of mine I no longer needed, but I recently just used it in a new version of my Halloween fan fic I plan to upload here in two more days when the submission is available again. I just went over the material and I'm like DAMN, I did have something to use after all. But it was better fit for my Halloween fan fic anyway.

The idea of the One Week Challenge is to write something new in the allocated time. You'd probably have got away with it if you didn't let on.

Yeah, but since I'm not gonna use it anyway, I might as well spill the beans! Hahaha. I would have done that too if I was on crunch time and had SOMETHING to tweak and work with. I DO wonder how many would actually write something new versus just using discarded and or old material from another story.

Yeah, I sent in something. I don't think it's a bad story,
but by the time I submitted the draft, I was frustrated.
I'm wasting a lot of time overthinking things.
Struggling with my first feature, too.  Need more sleep.
I might have skipped this challenge, but as usual, was
swayed by the short page count. For a lot of reasons, six
pages and under is just too tempting.
I hope for a great turn out.
Nice challenge, Zack.

I wanted to avoid "scabbing" or the perception of it and thus not being allowed to join the guilds. Even SAG-AFTRA. I want to cameo in my films, and I don't want to jeopardize getting into any of the unions.

I had the feeling you were a WGA member and couldn't write anything, even if it was for something unproduced which would have been odd.
