Hi

About to start looking for an agent and wondering if any one can suggest where to start and what, if anything, to be wary of.

Regards from the land of Aus.

Finding an agent. Check out writersservices.com. All you need is there. But remember agents  are in high demand and don’t always accept unsolicited scripts. If you are lucky to find one willing to  give you time and read your work after you write a begging letter, let me know and I’ll do the same. Agents come at a premium so trust us not an issue. Never pay monies to anyone claiming they’re an agent.

I think you mean the land of Oz. Of course I'm being pedantic for obvious reasons.

Unless you have an established reputation you're in the same boat as all of us in that you need to get your work out there, network, send your script to Producers who accept unsolicited material, post your work to sites like this etc. You can find some contacts via IMDb Pro, so I hear. I'm no expert but I think it's more a case that Agents come looking for you.

Not sure how it works in Oz, but in Richard Walter's book Essentials of Screenwriting, he says that you don't necessarily need to go down this route and that your agent/representation will find you.

A recent example was just posted Thursday. https://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?m-1732235124/ This noob writer sold his spec... and he just got repped a week ago!

Good luck.

It's the same everywhere, Chris.
Oh, and that Newb with the spec script who got lucky sought out his two Hollywood contacts to get the ball rolling.
