The news hit like thunder and lightning “Hurry home, your mom is fighting And she might not make it through the night.” This can’t be happening This can’t be right The last I knew, she was doing alright I don’t want God to take her away I look at my mom and beg her to stay
But the room goes silent As I stand there crying Watching my mom breathe her last few breaths There she goes She’s slipping away There’s still so much left that I want to say Please don’t leave me here all alone I weep and watch her As she’s going home
Her favorite song starts playing on the T.V. That’s how I know she’s still here And she’s with me The doctor leaves and gives me some time To talk to my mom And speak my mind I don’t want God to take her away I look at my mom and beg her to stay
But the room goes silent As I stand there crying Watching my mom breathe her last few breaths There she goes She’s slipping away There’s still so much left that I want to say Please don’t leave me here all alone I weep and watch her As she’s going home
A preacher comes in to say a prayer But my mind is racing everywhere I’ve never been in so much despair I look at the ECG as her heart beats fade I don’t know what to do I’m so afraid I don’t want God to take her away I look at my mom and beg her to stay
But the room goes silent As I stand there crying Watching my mom breathe her final breath There she goes She’s flying high Now she’s under Heaven’s sky I don’t want to be here all alone I weep and watch her As she’s going home
Her eyes are closed She looks so peaceful I brush her hair back And softly kiss her She’s already home
