To be fair, I've just read the description of the challenge and it does not explicitly say they have to be new... but Libby does call out later in the launch thread that they're supposed to be new.

Is the challenge not designed to just get people writing and being creative again?

If that means dusting off an old idea, reworking and updating to make it fresh I don't see the problem.

Taking an older completed script, changing nothing and just submitting is a different kettle of fish.

Two steps to writing a good screenplay:
1) Write a bad one
2) Fix it

Yes, I agree.

To be truthful, the script in question is by no means a contender for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd… or even 10th, lol. So it might just be a moot point as to whether or not it was previously posted as a larger work. Honestly, looking back I think it would have been easier to write something fresh cause trying to collapse 12 pages into 6 and still have something even remotely coherent was a challenge in itself… all good till it’s no good.

Now, back to reading more scripts!

I think writing a “fresh” script is sort of the unwritten rule, imo. If you’re dusting off an older completed script, even if you’re just making some tweaks and polishes, then what of the people who’ve come up with a new idea, have seven days to write, edit and submit all while up against a deadline? Doesn’t seem fair to me. My two cents.

The link to where that script was moved doesn’t work by the way.

It works for mods and is waiting for Don to have a say on it.

I'm late to the party but looks like I've shown up just in time for drama!  Hope it's resolved amicably for all.  I'm going to try and get some of these read and comments made.  May take a couple days - hubby is home and doing household "projects" which means I am summoned to "hold something" or "find something" about every 60 seconds. LOL

Looking forward to all the scripts of this OWC!

Scripts Available:
Christmas Joe (Holiday Drama)
Every Time It Snows (Holiday Drama)
Happy Holi-DNA (Holiday Romance)
Let That Pony Run (Family Drama)
With Love, From Romance (Holiday Romance)
Essex (Historical Drama)

Santuario (OWC Writers' Choice)
Death  (OWC)
Savior  (OWC)

Finished all the scripts with plenty of time to spare.  Great batch of scripts on hand and even though I'm not a horror fan, I enjoyed reading them.  Some quality writing on display!

Good luck to all!

Don has given the greenlight on the FU Michael Vick! script so those who haven't reviewed it can go ahead.

Ant, I'd say everyone who has voted already can PM Don and he can tally the additional votes.
